Mission Possible

Imagine this: you are in a real-life game where, in order to get to the treasure, you need to complete several missions. Whatever you need to complete the mission will be readily available. You'll also receive instructions on how to use the tools you need so that you can advance to the next level. It's up to you to listen to and follow instructions from the commander.

Before starting the mission, you may feel ill-equipped or unqualified. You've done this game before, and you're worried that you won't be able to complete the mission. Failed once, fail again, right?

How many times have we gone through the same thing in life? God might instruct us to serve, start a new job, step into a new opportunity, or do something that feels completely outside of our comfort zone. Our first thought might be, "How am I supposed to do this?" or "Am I really qualified for this?"

But 2 Timothy 3:17 tells us that we are equipped for every good work. This means that when we get instructions from Commander Jesus, He has and will equip us for the good work He has called us to do. We may not always feel ready when God gives us the assignment. We may not have all the answers, the experience, or even the confidence we think we need. But God already knows what is required for the mission. He isn't asking us to figure everything out on our own. He's asking us to trust Him, listen, and follow His instructions.

So, how do we know what to use and how to use it? This is where it's critical to pray and seek the face of God. God speaks in a still, small voice. That means we need to silence the noise around us so that we can recognize what God is highlighting to us about the situation we're in.

Sometimes the next step isn't going to make sense right away. Sometimes we'll have to move forward even when we don't feel completely prepared. But when we listen to God and follow His instructions, He provides what we need along the way.

Once we know what God is asking us to do, what once looked like "Mission Impossible" becomes "Mission Possible."
