Les Brown, one of my favorite motivational speakers, once said “you are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream”. When I was a little girl, I always enjoyed writing and expressing my heart through words. What started as a hobby as a little girl has blossomed into a dream as I got older. I did not know how the Lord would use this gift of mine, but I knew I had to take action - I had to take that first step. I didn’t know what would become of starting this journey or whom I would reach, I just knew that the Lord put it in my heart to trust him and let him handle the rest. That first step is how Reach One, Reach All came about.
In order for the dreams of our hearts to come to life, we must take that first step. I know what you’re thinking: what if I fall flat on my face? What if things don’t work out for me? I encourage you to fail forward! This might sound foreign to some, but failure can actually be one of the best teachers. John C. Maxwell, one of my favorite leadership mentors, quotes “fail early, fail often, but always fail forward.” Wow! So this means that making mistakes isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Making these mistakes early & frequently can actually lead to you getting where you want to go faster.
I want to encourage you to be bold and take that next step. Is it to start that business that you’ve had in your heart for years? Is it to pull away from old habits that are holding you back? Whatever it is, I dare you to start small and build from there. Did you know that this is a process and guess what could happen? Mistakes! But don’t worry, it’s all a part of the big picture. I want to leave you with a scripture that has encouraged me during this type of season in my life: “and we know that in all things God works everything together for the good of those that love God and have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). So go ahead - take that first step!
